🇺🇳🇺🇿 To mark Menstrual Hygiene Day, @UNICEF_UZB showcased a menstrual hygiene-friendly school toilet at the ECO EXPO during the GEF Assembly in Samarkand. As part of the "Future Focus Schools" exhibition, the model demonstrated how school sanitation facilities can be designed to support dignity, inclusion, and wellbeing for all students. The exhibit also highlighted key features of climate-resilient and accessible #WASH infrastructure, helping visitors explore how schools can better meet the needs of children and adolescents.

Participants in the meeting discussed the key issues of curriculum and assessment reforms, teacher professional development, child protection, and the development of Uzbekistan’s AI Framework for Education.

Strong sector coordination and partnership remain essential to ensuring that every child can learn, participate, and succeed in a safe, inclusive, and high-quality education system.

“The demographic dividend must be actively earned through policy choices, particularly investments that begin in the earliest years of life,” said Regina Castillo, UNICEF Representative in Uzbekistan. “Evidence shows investing in the early years yields the highest returns across the life course - 90% of brain development occurs before age five. Decisions made in the next 10–20 years will determine whether Uzbekistan’s growing population becomes a driver of prosperity or a missed opportunity.”
