This week, Year 3 & 4 have been learning and revising numbers 1-31 in French, alongside the days of the week and the names of each month. They have been learning these topics through fun games and by completing crosswords.
Phonics groups have resumed after Easter with KS1 splitting into 3 groups to learn their sounds, spelling, comprehension and English grammar. Pupils learn to use their letter sounds to help them blend and read, and then to segment words into sounds to help them spell.
Within Year 6 our Summer term Topic of Harry Potter is getting underway. Within our Art lessons the children have started by designing their own image based upon the wizarding world - they could pick a character, an object or anything related to the novels in any way.
This week with everyone back at Nursery, we have continued our theme of journeys. The children have been using their imagination to go on train journeys, pretend to be planes, helicopters, motor bikes. We flew to “Africa, Dinosaur Land, home and Australia” the children said.
Mrs Butler will soon be recruiting Peer Mentors for the Autumn term. Pupils will be invited to apply for this important role, and will be interviewed in September. Following this, there will be a training course delivered by Mrs Butler who is our Designated Safeguarding Lead.
This term, Y5 is learning about The Tudors. We have found out how Henry Tudor defeated Richard III at the Battle of Bosworth to become King Henry VII and by marrying Elizabeth of York he ended the War of the Roses.
We are experiencing all aspects of Spring in Nursery at the moment. The children have helped to create a garden centre by giving us their ideas and making ‘props’ such as, blossom and flowers, to play with and ‘sell’.
