As if having an award winning author session this morning wasn’t exciting enough, we got funding to do more comic book sessions!! Our pupil created Castlehead comics collection book, how it started will be continued next year thanks to @scottishbktrust Live Literature!

We had the absolute honour of welcoming @G_Armstrong21 to Castlehead today. He spoke about his books, his journey to becoming an author and his work on violence prevention. An absolutely powerful and amazing talk to a full auditorium.

A huge thank you to Alan Bissett for todays talk as part of the @SLIC1991 libraries LYT up lives project. Getting lots and lots of evaluations back like this makes librarians very happy 😊

As part of our Libraries LYT up lives project funded by @SLIC1991, we have 2 more author visits! @G_Armstrong21 will be visiting on Friday and Alan Bissett tomorrow! This is a rare appearance of a copy of Treacle Town too as after @ConaghanAuthor visited earlier this year.

We are so proud of our S1s and S5 volunteers who created the Castlehead comic alongside author @neilslorance. The launch of this took place yesterday with families of pupils attending. Neil gave a speech about the project and we think it really says it all! @scottishbktrust

The launch of our comic book takes place today at 4pm. There will be refreshments after the talk by @neilslorance in the Oakshaw area. All S1 artists and families have been invited but if you haven’t RSVPed, please just show up. Thank you to @scottishbktrust for the funding!

We welcomed award winning author Brian Conaghan today. He spoke to a packed library of pupils from S1-5 about his books, how he became an author and how the library changed his life as part of our Libraries LYT up lives project along with @GlasgowLib @onerenculture 📚 @SLIC1991

All s1/2 have been given @WorldBookDayUK tokens by their English teacher but we have some spare books and tokens! Come visit the library! WBD colouring by Taylor yesterday at craft club!

We got a very exciting and not usual delivery! It’s a book written by pupils! 75 copies of it! Our launch of the S1 comic book takes place at the end of the month. We have loved working with @neilslorance to create this and so many thanks to @scottishbktrust for the funding! 📚

What a way to start a Monday! Today’s craft club at lunch is paper airplane making and flying with badges to win for the ones who fly the furthest! @OliverJeffers inspiration, sorry @GLA_Airport if you see any unplanned planes on your radar 😇

It’s not even lunch and we’ve had lots of book borrowing, lots of entries handed in for the JCMP prize and a class of S1s took part in a pop up museum. After (librarian) lunch, it’s craft club making bookmarks and then onto launch party planning with S5 for our comic- busy day!

As it’s the last day of term, we have lots of recommendations for our final book calendar day today. A huge thank you to all involved. Some videos we realised we couldn’t use as they were filled with giggling so everyone definitely had fun filming these! Have a lovely holiday 📚
