Love to talk about #sustainability and our collective #climateaction
@Jessica__Goulet@ElizabethZajacz If you haven't already taken them, Eli's urban farm and Yen-Chu's environmental data analysis are both awesome classes! Urban Farm is just a great feel-good class and Data Analysis is great for marketable skills for a resume!
@heatherboycee I'd like to see the driving range repurposed, a reinvestment in the medicinal herb garden, more ethical sourcing for furniture in campus buildings, and a greater investment in relationships with tribes across the PNW. π What about you Heather?
@Jessica__Goulet Go for it Jessica! My capstone internship asked for experience I didn't have a shred of- if you come in with a can-do attitude and eagerness to learn, you can develop your skills through the internship, and be confident in that skill once you're applying for full time jobs!
@ZoeLew10 This is one of those objectives that's worth taking lots of time on. A good faculty advisor can be a huge help in designing your research! If you don't know where to start, ask some of the professors you do know if they can introduce you to others you don't!
@heatlovesnature Honestly once or twice, yeah! It's important to choose your internship really carefully- send interview requests on the first day you can and choose something in line with your passion. It makes the rest of the project much easier!
Alright everyone - here's the link to Cohort Happy Hour starting at 5:00! I've enabled a waiting room for security, so be sure that I can recognize you from your screen name! If you have any questions or trouble, feel free to DM me here! See you soon! https://t.co/2m7Z9d2Ueq
Looks like 5:00 it is! I'll tweet a link tomorrow (or send it at graduation too if I can!) so keep an eye out! Looking forward to seeing everyone and celebrating!
@isabel_wilson_ So true- it feels like just yesterday I was taking ENVIR 100 and meeting with Ana to declare the major! So strange to come to the end of the road.
Finally, never forget what drove you to become an environmental studies major in the beginning. We've all got a million reasons - yours will inspire and drive you straight past the finish line. Forge new friendships, learn a lot, make a difference, and enjoy the journey! #POECap
Coming to the end of the #POECap experience and my time at UW, I've had a lot to reflect on recently. I can't believe it's already come to an end - it feels like we all just started yesterday. #ENVIR490 students - a little perspective belowπ½π½π½
Take every opportunity you can to learn something new, and cherish your cohort while you have them! I'm sad to say goodbye to my cohort, but I've learned so much from them over the years. Look out for one another, support each other whenever you can, and stay in touch!
Frequently referenced the Cornell Lab of Ornithology's @MacaulayLibrary and @BirdNET_App, online tools and publications from @audubonsociety and @xenocanto over the course of my research and internship. Great tools for understanding birds and their many calls!
Looks like a plurality of voters picked Thursday after graduation for a cohort happy hour (don't worry - if you can't make that one, we'll be sure to have another!)
Vote on a start time in the poll below! Excited to see everyone - I'll send out a zoom link on Wednesday!
