I don’t know a lot about Louisiana’s educational standards in particular, but hopefully these changes help improve student learning.
@pappsworthy@davidhughes_phd I have teenage children in NY. I watched the class materials change through the grade levels as Common Core materials were introduced. The material wasn’t taught to mastry, so students struggled to use those skills reliably. Phonics and traditional math outside school helped.
@davidhughes_phd The addition of individual chromebooks, and loss of copying math problems didn’t help. Many teachers no longer grade homework but have students grade their own work in class. Parents often don’t see the graded work; it isn’t brought home.
This clip gave me chills.
Former Obama DOE Under Secretary Steve Koonin explains that many climate models ran 2–4x too hot. The scientific community knew it. The public was never told.
Those exaggerated models fueled a “climate crisis” narrative that rushed decarbonization, drove up energy prices, weakened the grid, hollowed out manufacturing, scared a generation of kids, and shipped jobs to China.
On Friday night, we let Kelly Chase in on a little secret: the new trophy being awarded to the winning foursome at the Blues for Kids Golf Classic this year has been dubbed the “Kelly Chase Community Cup.”
The award celebrates Chaser’s incredible efforts to give back to the St. Louis community, something he’s done since Day 1 upon debuting with the Blues more than 30 years ago.
The cup was delivered by Donald Ringling, an original member of the Gateway Locomotives, a program Chase helped establish in 1994 to give people with developmental disabilities the chance to play the game of hockey. The organization was re-named Blues Special Hockey in 2017 and still continues today. #stlblues
