A couple of cryptic pages for your eyes.

So lots of progress, the big hurdle is the coloring still, were making progress but it's still the slowest part of this. I'm having to juggle a few different artist to different spots to fix a few pages that aren't matching exact. I'm decided to keep three colorist that are fast and deliver the level of quality I'm looking for. Sadly I'm going to have to let go of two colorist because of the speed/quality isn't up to the levels that have already been set. Never a fun thing to do but it's more work to go back and fix things at this point.

I'm going to have Jose Jaro the colorist who's been doing the trippy aura colors I've been posting to do a pass on a few pages to enhance the color in a couple chapters. I feel like some pages could be plused. He's been doing something really cool with effects, adding glints, highlights, reflections, glows in his coloring that's so unique and has brought up every page he's touched.

Now, even in the inking we have to do a small correction pass to make sure the characters are on model so it's not distracting while you read it. This one isn't a huge problem, for the most part everything has been on point besides a few weird looking faces. Same thing happened in animation funny enough. I think it's more of a me thing, like if Gary doesn't look like Gary it drives me crazy lol

Anyways, Daz is still on the last chapter, Noah is wrapped for the most part, done with Part 7 and Chiara is done with Part 5. I still own them a few notes but trying get the coloring situation back in order.

Making lots of progress. Coloring on Part 4 is done. Part 3 is done with coloring. Part 1 is getting a few pages polished then will be done. Daz is about 20 pages out from finishing Part 8 and then we'll start the polish pass on a bunch of pages, just to tighten every thing up and make sure nothing is jarring visually. Part 4 is about to get lettered. Still need to finish coloring Part 3 (half way done), 5, 6, 7, and 8 but were making solid progress now. I'm adding a couple pages to emphasis why the coloring is taking so long as you can see there is SOOOOO MUCH happening in a few of these chapters. And to het that level of quality I'm wanting I'm trying to get the artist as much time as possible. It's bonkers! I mean Chapter 6 is 80 pages of that lol

So as we're going through the coloring process, I mentioned having Jose (our newest colorist) do a pass on a couple pages that felt a tad flat. One might even call it a zazz pass something we did on the show. There's nothing wrong with the left page but I wanted to see if we could make it pop a bit more. I saw Jose really plus the Chapter 4 pages so I put him on this mission too and I've so happy to with how this experiment turned out. It's small additions but I'm hoping to do this to some more pages. It raises the cost per page up but in key moments it add a lot! Anyway just a small update to show you that this experiment looks to be working!

So here's where we're at! Inking is about done with all Chapters. I put 50% if the chapter is finished being inked but hasn't started color yet, anything past 50% reflects where it's at on coloring.

PREVIOSULY ON 1-3 - DONE
PART 1 - 99.9% DONE
PART 2 - 89% DONE
PART 3 - 70% DONE
PART 4 - 90% DONE
PART 5 - 48.9% DONE
PART 6 - 60% DONE
PART 7 - 50% DONE
PART 8 - 39% DONE

This is well over 400 pages.
So we're making crazy progress! Inking should be done maybe in a week or two but then I'm going to have @daztibbles do a touch up pages on a pages that I feel may need a correction, from expressions to faces to fixes. We moving at such fast speeds that a few things need some fixes or polish. Probably the PART that needs the most love is Part 5. And that really just bridging the chapter from two different artist so making it feel more cohesive. Still working through where to focus our energy the most and it's probably PARTS 4, 5, 7 and 8. Coloring is going good, should have PART 1 done any day now and that's everything from coloring to lettering to everything. PART 2 I want to zazz a few pages (I just think couple pages can pop a bit more) PART 3 is about done with coloring and then we'll zazz up a couple pages. PART 4 I just want to add a bit more texture so an inking zazz pass if you will, the color is AWESOME in this part.

Now PARTS 6 and 8 are MONSTERS parts PART 6 alone is just bonkers and it's over 80 pages so that is going to take a bit. PART 8 is an another chunky one.

Happy Final Space Thursday!
So after doing the zazz pass on a few pages in Part 1 and seeing how much we got them to pop even more, I decide to do it to Part 2. Now I want to say everything on the left was done by a top tier graphic novel colorist and 100% is print ready.....but I wanted to see if we could squeeze anything out of the glow out of Ash's powers. To my amazement we could. So now we'll be doing this extra pass on about 18-20 pages. And if I can I'm going to see if I can do this to every Part if I have the time. It's strange but when I see the zazz pass I see the show even more. Weird. -Olan

So PART 1 is 100% done! PART 2 is 99% done! Feels good to finish a couple of parts from ink, to color to lettering, no just need to put it all together. Still a bit to go on the later PARTS but were making good progress! I didn't have any pages to share that didn't have spoilers so how about a new SCORE from @AndrewGcomposer Those guys are working hard on the soundtrack for the novel. Daz has about 10 more pages left on PART 8 and then he'll start clean up on a few PARTS to make it feel more cohesive in style. Anyway onwards! ENJOY the song!
