So... What Does an Outstanding Teacher Do?: A Visible Learning Evidence Based Approach https://t.co/N5pAEP46NP
@ballater6@TTRadioOfficial Totally - it is so counter intuitive giving these labels. And it’s so much more than being ‘outstanding’. You can’t fit it into a tick list criteria. Those labels would give me so much anxiety and stress.
@Bethan_Southern@TTRadioOfficial Absolutely 👏 and that’s why I discuss how counter intuitive it was and how you can’t make a snap judgement based on one lesson. All teachers can grown and develop with support and guidance, not with a label. Unfortunately here in Abu Dhabi we do still get judgements!
@JamesTheo@TTRadioOfficial What I would say to those who don’t see the point and don’t like it is, that’s fine. But I would suggest thinking about the questions you are posing. It’s not about ‘do you like my lesson’ ‘ do you like me’ - it’s about ‘did you understand my lesson?’ ‘Did this make sense’
@JamesTheo@TTRadioOfficial Taken out of context to what was being discussed. But I agree - some people don’t like student voice because they don’t see the purpose of it. Some don’t like it because they have had a bad experience of it. It’s about the purpose - it’s got to be beneficial, and purposefully.
@BarryNSmith79@TTRadioOfficial It’s all to do with purpose - what is the purpose you are doing it for? Is it to genuinely get an answer, or is it another tick box exercise? As I said, for me it was more of using it to get a feel of whether each class were getting the same quality.
@MissFolorunsho@Cat_Chowdhary Caught the final ten minutes of this.
Enjoyed it, interesting thoughts to reflect on. Will listen to all of it.
Have a good weekend!
‘An outstanding teacher is different to a good teacher… being outstanding isn’t a tick list, if you get an outstanding in a one off lesson doesn’t make you an outstanding teacher, being outstanding is so much more than that’ @Cat_Chowdhary https://t.co/nJLegASm20
