Hoy sostuve una reunión positiva con la Embajadora de Costa Rica en EE.UU., @CatalinaCRE, sobre la estrecha y duradera relación entre nuestros dos países.

Como presidente de la Subcomisión de Asignaciones sobre la Seguridad Nacional y el Departamento de Estado en la Comisión de Asignaciones de la Cámara de Representantes, la que se encarga de proporcionar fondos para nuestra seguridad nacional y prioridades en el exterior, tengo el deber de proteger los recursos aportados por los contribuyentes estadounidenses.

A medida que avanzamos en el proceso para finalizar los proyectos de ley de financiación para el Año Fiscal 2026, quiero asegurarme de que sigamos apoyando a nuestros aliados que respetan los principios democráticos fundamentales. Mi legislación reconoce los notables esfuerzos de Costa Rica para apoyar las acciones internacionales en la lucha contra el narcotráfico, el crimen transnacional y la trata de personas. Trabajar juntos significa comunidades más seguras, proteger vidas y un hemisferio más seguro para todos.

Toda señal de retroceso en los principios democráticos fundamentales exige nuestra atención.
