És el rector de la parròquia de Sant Agustí, al Raval — la parròquia per on dimecres passarà el Papa Lleó XIV. I aquesta setmana ha sortit a Catalunya Ràdio per explicar-nos als catalans que no podem "reclamar" que el Papa parli català, perquè "ESTAMOS EN ESPAÑA".

Tres apunts.

Primer. La torre que es beneirà és la torre de Jesucrist de la Sagrada Família, obra d'Antoni Gaudí — un reconegut activista del català. Que el rector que acollirà el Papa al Raval surti a la ràdio pública catalana per desactivar qualsevol gest en català, justament sobre una obra de Gaudí, té un nivell d'ironia que se sosté sol.

Segon. Ningú demana que el Papa parli català fluid. Es demana un gest: una frase, una benedicció. Joan Pau II en va dir, Francesc en va dir. La coartada de la "dificultat" — "no es pot aprendre una llengua en un dia" — és una excusa per justificar el que ja s'havia decidit per endavant: que el Papa parli en castellà i prou.

Tercer. L'argument de Mlewga no és només lingüístic. És polític. "Estem a Espanya, la llengua nacional és l'espanyol" és exactament el discurs d'un Estat que no reconeix el català al mateix nivell que el castellà.

Escoltar-lo des d'un púlpit del Raval, dit a una emissora pública catalana, amb el to paternal de qui ve a explicar-nos què hem d'"entendre", és el manual de l'espanyolisme amb sotana.
