A teacher who was murdered in the Uvalde shooting last week, and her husband who died the next day of a grief heart attack, had their funerals today. Then 3 active shootings happened simultaneously tonight, and we had to decide whether to feature all 3 or focus on the deadliest.
Today’s shooting at my med school hospital in Dayton, OH didn’t even make national news because it was overshadowed by another shooting at another hospital in Tulsa, OK.
Shootings unfolding simultaneously right now in America: At a hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma; a Walmart in Pittson, Pennsylvania; and a high school in Los Angeles, California.
FYI this isn't stopping. There have been 18 mass shootings SINCE Uvalde.
You need to know this. Because it's not going to stop until we do something.
1/ Here's just a sampling of the slaughter in the last six days:
I have spent the past few days researching the training of Uvalde officers, including the tactics they were expected to use to halt school shooters.
The documents are jarring. Here’s a thread of our findings so far.

In 2018 we had 800 marches it would be amazing if we could have over 1000 this time to show the movement is only getting stronger. Create or join a march ⬇️
A police commander on the scene decided the gunman *locked in a classroom* meant "there was time" to get the keys & "no more children at risk."
This determination was made while the *elementary school kids* were calling 9-1-1 & their parents were *begging* cops to go inside.
Unreal: This official just said that a decision was made to not break into the classroom because the officers on site believed there was no longer an active shooting situation, even though children were calling 911 at the time pleading for officers to come and save them. My God.
Three weeks ago, I had a miscarriage. I was six weeks pregnant. I live in Texas, a state that has effectively banned abortions.
A thread about what it is to cease to be pregnant in a state where abortions are banned:
