The @BBCWorld, @AFP, @AP & @reuters have released a short film calling on the Israeli authorities to allow international journalists access to Gaza.
In a joint video statement, the media groups said: "International journalists must now be allowed into Gaza to share the burden with Palestinian reporters there so we can all bring the facts to the world."
Anas al-Sharif was 28 years old. He grew up in Jabiya refugee camp. He lost his father in December 2023 to Israeli bombs. He was a courageous journalist for #AlJazeera. There is ZERO evidence he was attached to Hamas (this is what Israel does - malign the dead). His last words before he was killed by Israel on Saturday: “if these words reach you, know that Israel has succeeded in killing me”
Story of a death foretold: a few weeks before Israeli forces killed him, @CPJMENA called for Anas Al-Sharif’s protection in face of Israeli smears - Committee to Protect Journalists https://t.co/8gTV3HhE8Q
IDF says it’s killed Al Jazeera journalist Anas Al-Sharif @pressfreedom and others warned of his death a few weeks ago. Entire AJ crew in Gaza City has been killed with him https://t.co/uypPzOHpra
⚫️ AFP management shares the SDJ's concern about the appalling situation of its freelancers in the Gaza Strip.
For months, we have watched helplessly as their living conditions deteriorated dramatically. Their situation is now untenable, despite their exemplary courage, professional commitment, and resilience.
This is why AFP, which managed to evacuate its eight staff members and their families from Gaza between January and April 2024, is taking the same steps for its freelancers, despite the extreme difficulty of leaving a territory subject to a strict blockade.
Since October 7, Israel has blocked access to the Gaza Strip for all international journalists. In this context, the work of our Palestinian freelancers is crucial to informing the world.
But their lives are in danger, so we urge the Israeli authorities to allow them to evacuate immediately along with their families.
*The SDJ is an association of AFP newsroom journalists, independent from AFP management and journalist unions.
Visiting the most bizarre nation on earth : Steve Vines of The Independent & @CatherineField of The Observer in North Korea.
No evident signs of this ghastly regime starting to falter but it is reasonable to wonder how long they can keep it up.

I can't believe it. Siarhei is here—with me and our children. What we’ve dreamed of for 5 years has finally happened.
Tonight, I’m taking the evening off to talk with my husband, to let him see his children again, after so many years.
Thank you all for the tremendous support!❤️
