👏 Grateful to share that our book, "God Made That! A Catholic Nature Field Guide," has been named a finalist in the 2026 Association of Catholic Publishers Excellence in Publishing Awards! 📖
My co-author, Kat Hoenke, and I wrote this book to help young people and their families encounter God through creation, and to reconnect faith with science and the living world around us.
Rooted in ecology and Catholic tradition, God Made That! invites readers to explore our common home through nature study, prayer, and hands-on activities.
🙏 I am thankful to my co-author, Kat Hoenke; illustrator Fiona Osbaldstone; and our publisher, Pauline Books and Media, for their care and support in making this possible.

Beginning our spring and summer nature journal / field notebooks with our two grandchildren, ages 6 and 9, just like professional ecologists!
Our book, “God Made That: Catholic Nature Field Guide,” brings children on an adventure with God and the saints through the major biomes and habitats of the USA and Canada!

🐢 People often tell us we need to share our story more.
🪶 Today, we are honored to highlight a key part of that story.
We are blessed to be led by an Indigenous Catholic woman, mother, and all-around great person — our chairperson, Shauna’h Fuegan.
Shauna’h is a trained educator who has dedicated her life to the intersection of technology, education, and faith. She holds Master of Science degrees in Education and Instructional Technology, and a Bachelor’s degree from Yale University, where she studied the origins and impacts of political violence and genocide.
A citizen of the Mohawk Nation (Kanien’kehá:ka), Shauna’h grew up with a deep devotion to Saint Kateri Tekakwitha, and she is a professed member of the Secular Franciscan Order.
We are deeply grateful for Shauna’h’s wisdom, leadership, and witness of faith.
Thank you for all that you do, Shauna’h! 🌿

🕊️ I had the great privilege of presenting Saint Kateri Tekakwitha’s reliquary to the Saint Kateri National Shrine and Historic Site in Fonda, NY.
I passed the reliquary to Melissa Miscevic Bramble, Director of Operations, and a dedicated and unwavering advocate for Saint Kateri. The reliquary is in loving stewardship at her National Shrine, in the land where Kateri lived and in the homeland of the Kanienkehaka (Mohawk) people, who have called this region home for generations.
The Shrine is a ministry of the Conventual Franciscan Friars of Our Lady of the Angels Province and a place of peace, prayer, and healing. The Shrine is also our most treasured Saint Kateri Habitat—where people come to seek faith and renewal and where wildlife habitat is lovingly nurtured.
We look forward to collaborating with the Shrine on future projects that promote greater awareness and recognition of Saint Kateri as the patron saint of Traditional Ecological Knowledge. Your continuing prayers and support are greatly appreciated.
📍 Photo: With Melissa by the Saint Kateri Habitat sign near the Shrine’s gift shop. More photos by Sev (Sara) Marshall to come!
Saint Kateri, pray for us.
