Every year, I share this video of French caretakers who take sand from Omaha Beach in Normandy, and scrub them into the letters to give them the gold coloring.
They do this for all 9,386 US soldiers who died.
France also gave us this land as American soil. #MemorialDayWeekend
Nancy Mace is proposing a ban on foreign-born citizens from serving in Congress, presidential cabinets, and becoming federal judges, arguing those positions should be reserved for natural-born American citizens.
The proposal would impact both Democrats and Republicans, including Rep. Ilhan Omar, Rep. Pramila Jayapal, Rep. Ted Lieu, Sen. Bernie Moreno, Rep. Young Kim, and several other lawmakers who immigrated to the U.S. before becoming citizens.
Mace suggests that naturalized citizens may have divided loyalty between the United States and their home countries, “For too long we have allowed foreign-born members to hold seats in this government, while making clear their loyalty is not here. We see it every day."

Prayer at Dawn
I rise and pledge myself, Lord, that this day I shall do no evil deed, but offer every moment as a sacrifice to you. I blush when I remember my sinfulness; I shudder when to recall how I have betrayed you. Yet you know that now I want only to serve you. Make me this day your devoted servant.

It was with real sadness that I learned that the monks of the Abbey of La Trappe in Normandy are considering closing down their operation. As the name suggests, this monastery is the mother house of the Trappist Order, a reform of the Cistercian movement and a particularly intense form of Benedictine life, famous for its austerity and silence. I came to know of La Trappe through Thomas Merton, a Trappist monk of the Abbey of Gethsemani in Kentucky, whom I read with great passion when I was a young man. La Trappe shaped Merton, who in turn opened so much of the spiritual life to me. Founded over nine hundred years ago, La Trappe has survived the Black Death, the Hundred Years' War, the Protestant Reformation, the French Revolution, and the world wars of the twentieth century. That this venerable monastery cannot find enough vocations to keep it alive is, in my judgment, a sign of the spiritual disaster that has befallen Europe in the last hundred years: an ideological secularism that is rotting the soul of the West. Let's redouble our prayers that the monks of La Trappe might find a way to preserve their great Abbey. It is needed especially now.
By the intercession of Saint Charbel, Lord Jesus Christ, protect the innocent and free us from the evils of this world. Forgive the sins of the unfaithful, and bring them back to Your bosom.

“If you want to be happy for an hour eat a steak if you want to be happy for a day go play golf. If you wanna be happy for a week go take a vacation, but if you wanna be happy for a lifetime, put your faith in Jesus Christ.”

Jesus took my son Joshua to heaven yesterday.
It was not expected and we still don’t know what happened.
Please pray for my family.
We are keeping the faith, but there is so much pain.
Praised be Jesus Christ, now and forever.

2-year-old missing girl was rescued after moving company employees noticed odd behavior.
This comes after they were trained to identify human trafficking.
Praise God the girl is okay.
We believe that the divine presence is everywhere and that in every place the eyes of the Lord are watching the good and the wicked.

Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; upon Him was the chastisement that made us whole, and with His stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way. -Isaiah
