@TheCatholicEngr@Gudabeg Respect, but this feels like when my parents told me to reach back out to a woman who ghosted me to show that I'm really interested: we're not really supposed to do that anymore.
@athabaskanelite If every month you walked down the street to dump $29.95 into the nearest storm drain, it would give you a better chance of finding a faithful partner than CatholicMatch.
@Anonkun80564929@countmaculad Jesus points out that even before the new covenant no one was going to let their donkey die in a ditch if they fell in on the sabbath.
@OT3_Mix@clytemnests7et You might like "The Rye in the Catcher". Its about a guy who just wants to complain about a book he just read but nobody will listen because they've all just been molested.
@justabloodygame The fact that so many people hate Holden proves the book's point. At worst Holden is an annoying slacker and his life has been filled with tragedy he's incapable of processing, but he's inarticulate and the worst thing you can be is boring.
@BizMunny@growing_daniel@Muricaenjoyer And if it is good to confess your sins to a third party, it makes sense for them to be educated on morality, to be invested in your wellbeing, and to be bound to an oath to not tell others all of your secrets.
@BizMunny@growing_daniel@Muricaenjoyer Confessing your sins to a person makes you articulate what you did wrong and why. It is God and the people you've wrong you ultimately need to answer to, but talking to a third party adds the external element to the conversation with God.
@facetedcarapace Socially concious people who cannot support Starbuck's union busting. Also men whose proclivities have gotten them a nationwide ban from starbucks.
@emilykmay If you start listening to the Lumineers on Spotify long enough you'll start getting lyrics like "we don't need to bear the weight of the world on our shoulders, just reach your fragile hands up to the moon" and unironically feel happier than you have in a decade.
@hotdamhistorian You're probably smarter than most. The language isn't bad but there are a lot of cultural norms that have to be inferred. I don't think I could have read Mansfield Park as a teenager without background knowledge.
@leahetc_ I can understand why. Their shitty team finally won something but because a celebrity was there, the entire state is acting like it was 9/12.
@hntrgurl13 Even before benefits teacher's make well above the national average.
Also, if american teacher's do so much for their students, why can only half of them read? We spend more money on education per student than Sweden and they're crushing us.
@ASamantha@youdoingtoomuch I really like his parent's story. They were a comedy duo who were married for 61 years before she passed. It's funny listening to a guy who always plays the a-hole on TV talking about how brilliant his wife was.
