@shannonplante@djWHEAT@NerdOrDieCom@Twitch It's avoidable to you from a technology standpoint Android and iOS have system hooks that will tell you that the user is in transit (i.e. driving) and the apps can then automatically hide chat. Twitch could enforce that third-party apps also use this and hide chat automatically.
@shannonplante@djWHEAT@NerdOrDieCom@Twitch Motor vehicles are obviously the most dangerous one but it's not unique to them. There's loads of people who stream cycling, whether they're doing deliveries or just cycling from one place to another and constantly reading chat on the phone. They could easily knock someone over
This will let the apps detect when someone's in motion. There are OS-level events that you can hook into and then simply auto-hide the chat When they're driving; they've got nothing to read even if they're tempted to. You guys could enforce that. Otherwise you revoke the API key
@djclancy999 re: issues with driving + reading chat - might be worth enforcing that 3rd-party chat reading apps that use twitch API adhere/ use Android/iOS's core-motiom/IN_VEHICLE services/events and auto-hide chat when driving @Twitch@MikeMinton
@Asmongold@Dexerto The fix is pretty easy, to be honest. Both Android and iOS have core hooks to know if the user is" in transit" Android even tells you that they're in transit so the Twitch app can detect that you're in transit over X miles an hour and then hide all text chat on screen automatic
@MikeMinton@zachbussey Why this is even a story It's actually rare to have a direct sales team. 95% of apps Twitch users - their ad inventory gets filled via Nimbus and they rely on the fill rates and CPMs.
UGC is brand's cryptonite as they cannot control the content around their ad buys
@MikeMinton I've been a PM for 15 years on multiple UGC/community based products. The key is to attack the economics of the bot services - make the juice not worth the squeeze. " Layer's of friction" is the key to force manual intervention= time and £. Don't get into am AI arms race
@Myth_ Myth & Fable (cleanest pairing)
Myth & Saga (feels a bit more premium)
Myth & Luna (nice contrast)
Myth & Freya (strong mythology theme)
