🟢 Dufferin Street Bridge has reopened! Emergency work to the bridge, TTC track replacement and improvements for pedestrian and cycling traffic have been completed and are now open for public use.
@PlannerSean@Fidomobile just lost a 20+ year customer. Spent two hours on hold yesterday to get the Black Friday $34 plan only to have their loyalty department hang up on me. Just switched to koodo. I’d be silly to stick with my 10gb plan at Fido that’s costs almost twice as much!
Please note that the Rosedale Valley Rd multi-use trail will be closed from Nov 27 to Dec 17 between Park Rd and Bayview Ave during the installation of the new Glen Road Pedestrian Bridge across the Rosedale Valley Ravine. Visit https://t.co/ctbsjD0qij for more details.
So, I spoke to people getting food at a food bank and here are some things I learned from those in need:
1. Everyone donates Kraft Mac and Cheese in the box. They can rarely use it because it needs milk and butter which is hard to get from regular food banks.
2. Boxed milk is a treasure, as kids need it for cereal which they also get a lot of.
3. Everyone donates pasta sauce and spaghetti noodles.
4. They cannot eat all the awesome canned veggies and soup unless you put a can opener in too or buy pop tops.
5. Oil is a luxury but needed for Rice a-Roni which they also get a lot of.
6. Spices or salt and pepper would be a real Christmas gift.
7. Tea bags and coffee make them feel like you care.
8. Sugar and flour are treats.
9. They fawn over fresh produce donated by farmers and grocery stores.
10. Seeds are cool in Spring and Summer because growing can be easy for some.
11. They rarely get fresh meat.
12. Tuna and crackers make a good lunch.
13. Hamburger Helper goes nowhere without ground beef.
14. They get lots of peanut butter and jelly but usually not sandwich bread.
15. Butter or margarine is nice too.
16. Eggs are a real commodity.
17. Cake mix and frosting makes it possible to make a child’s birthday cake.
18. Dishwashing detergent is very expensive and is always appreciated.
19. Feminine hygiene products are a luxury and women will cry over that.
20. Everyone loves Stove Top Stuffing.
In all the years I have donated food at the Holidays, I bought what I thought they wanted, but have never asked. I am glad I did. If you are helping a Family this Christmas, maybe this can help you tailor it more. It does for me!
Hey peeps….we’ve come across a lost pupp. Little pomeranian. City can’t help until tomorrow morning. Eglinton and harvie area. Please spread the word. Seems really well groomed. Our cats will go nuts if we have to take her inside for the night
@PlannerSean@RogersHelps Got a real person at 1 hour and 59 minutes. Just got off the call at 2 hour 25 minutes. Now waiting for a call back (says another 15-30 minutes. I wouldn’t hold any longer. They play the same song over and over and over). Oivay
I have been waiting on hold with @RogersHelps for 1 hour and 15 minutes thus far. According to the computer voice, I was supposed to only have to wait 21 minutes. Let’s see how long I’m actually going to be on hold for. My guess 1 hour and 46 mins.
@ChrisSpoke@donnelly_b We’re currently doing a study of the whole DDA intersection. Plan is to close off Old Weston Road access to Dundas, but we can’t close the whole street. We have to maintain access for Metrolinx and businesses that front onto the street. Will be a much nicer public realm though
@PlannerSean @m2bowman A tree is very different from a building. Deciduous trees provide shade in hot summer months and when they lose their leaves allows more sunlight in shoulder and winter months to make the outdoors more comfortable for all seasons
Hey twitter….I’m trying to repair these terrarium footstools I have. I know where the leaks are coming from but can’t figure out how best to fix/seal. Crazy glue didn’t work, gorilla tape isn’t working….any thoughts or suggestions?
