@chris_sutton73 McTominay, McGinn and Shankland had a combined G/A of around 66 this season. Yet all 3 have contributed next to nothing (1 deflected goal from JM). Is that on them or the coach why they can't replicate club form in major tournament finals?
@davidstoker_lfc Errors caused by changing system each game. No consistency to our team which leads to uncertaintly for individuals, who then make mistakes. Can he be blamed for McTominay, McGinn and Shankland who had a combined 66 G/A last season barely mustering an effort?
@johnwalker_1986 Totally agree with this. Trying to play out from back with only 1 option available to pass to. When that was cut off, McKenna instantly in trouble as no-one short, to side etc. Same with Hendry and McLean which led to the mess where we got away with it.
@LifeofPeter66@henrywinter Yep it’s also why Ange gets so many injuries at Spurs, it was a similar issue he had at Celtic but not highlighted as much due to the league being weaker. Kyogo had numerous hamstring issues and Celtic towards end of his final season were sluggish despite dominance.
@henrywinter Is this the classic situation where tiredness doesn’t seem to apply to top quality players? Messi, Ronaldo and a plethora throughout time would play game upon game as well as the off the pitch obligations…makes you wonder if it’s real or an excuse (or in between!)
@Andymb28@henrywinter I get that but they also played week in week out in their primes/20s - the great players for the most part seem to defy sports science which then makes you wonder does an average player use it as an excuse or can the greats just manage it better?
@henrywinter Interesting point of intensity increasing due to 5 subs, never thought of that previously 👍 There are many takes to this but one thing for sure is Salah is at another level this season!
@AbzPodcast Makes me so gutted we had the ridiculous bad run when we did, they are woeful and their for the taking by any of the other top 6 sides if they could just find consistency
@xZ3R0H_AFCx@AbzPodcast@RyanCryle True, but also some of our new lads and previous signings did that as well over the past few months. Nature of the beast i suppose at our level.
@AbzPodcast@RyanCryle We could find better agreed but it’s not guaranteed or easy. I’m still not 100% sold on our transfer policy and never confident 😂 but McGrath didn’t warrant a 4 year deal, it’s a shame though as he was a solid player for us albeit felt he never found a true role.
VAR would apparently stop controversy and debate but probably worse than ever now. The game I loved is dead to VAR and officials taking headlines and being more important than the skill of the players. Couldn’t care who won today but they just make it up as they go along.
@15mythical I think having only 4-5 matches on PLEs really hurts - no exposure at a major level for a wide variety of talent, they used to manage 9-10 matches in 3 hours but now it’s just a glorified advertisement show
@SimonMiller316 People have forgotten to just like what they like - even I’ve seen myself fall into that trap. I was 18 in the attitude era and didn’t care about ratings or 5 star matches, I just watched what I liked across WWF/WCW/ECW and enjoyed it! Now we worry to much what others think!
