@ChainLinkHyrule@mtntallpaul@hottiehazard@jim_urso I've come to the conclusion that the average European high-schooler has probably a better knowledge of the US constitution than most of these "patriots" with flags on their lawn and their tongue so far up Trump's ass they can taste the aspartame in the diet Coke he's drinking.
@Robot_five@cutlerstom@simonmaechling > I think the point is that he's educated himself on food
You don't. Think, that is. Otherwise you wouldn't be saying that coming out with moronic stuff like "rice is drowned in glyphosate" could POSSIBLY be the result of educating yourself on food.
@michlady75@maddenifico Oh, but it is a flaw in the Constitution. A double flaw.
On one hand, it's exceedingly difficult to remove a president from office, whether via 25A or impeachment. OTOH, even if he is somehow removed, he's automatically replaced by another one from his own pack, namely the VP.
@BertieleBunyip@maddenifico In contrast, the only mechanisms the US has to legally oust the president (25A & impeachment) ensure that in the already unlikely & exceedingly difficult to achieve eventuality of his removal, he's replaced by his own #2. If you don't see what's wrong with that, I can't help you.
@BertieleBunyip@maddenifico The opposite. The US constitution does a piss-poor job, legally.
Pretty much every *other* modern nation that's not a dictatorship has constitutional mechanisms to oust the leader of the executive if he goes off the rails, and replace him with someone who's not part of his pack.
@C_Small_@jonsopel@JDVance If it's simply "ancestors from X place", then I'm a member of the fucking "British diaspora" b/c some Scot ended up in Austria in the middle 1700s, and after another few generations and more migration – ta-daa, my maternal grandmother's mother was born to one of his descendants.
@C_Small_@jonsopel@JDVance Do you? And if you do, what EXACTLY is that "standard" beyond simply having some ancestors from some place as far back as half a dozen generations or more?
@C_Small_@DonMurray125@jonsopel@JDVance By that "logic" I'm a fucking Scot b/c I've had an ancestor from Scotland somewhere in the early 1800s... which is probably still more recent than JD Vance's most recent ancestor who was actually from Scotland.
@C_Small_@jonsopel@JDVance Besides, it would be nice if he'd pay even half as much attention to police murdering people in the streets in broad daylight in the country where he's #2 in government!
@C_Small_@jonsopel@JDVance "diaspora" is doing some AWFULLY heavy lifting. None of his ancestors for well over a century are from anywhere outside the US.
And never even fucking mind how risible it is to claim "British diaspora" status for a people that fought a war to be independent from Britain!
@jonsopel The fucking gall this guy has to do this grandstanding act about some guy dying b/c he wasn't taken seriously by police in another country while in the one where he's (nominally) #2 in government, his agents murder people with impunity in broad daylight!
@CapitalMisto@FlerfWatch You need to see your ophthalmologist if you think that's a "completely uniform, flat blue" and can't see the hotspot near the center.
Or rather, you need to STOP LYING!
@bakrantz@drterrysimpson Yeah, fun stuff. The sort of things you can **pretend** actually mean anything when you can't be bothered to clarify the nebulous qualifiers you're using! And the sort of negative implications arising from the language you're using that you don't feel you have to justify!
