Somaliland is a remarkable success story.
It has been shackled since the ‘60s to a dysfunctional and terror-ridden neighbour and endured a genocide at that neighbour’s hands.
But against all the odds, Somalilanders have built a plucky, stable country, a functioning democracy with regular, competitive elections, peaceful transfers of power, long-term stability and internal peace in one of the world’s most volatile regions.
It has advanced women’s rights and taken decisive steps to end female genital mutilation. It has an active civil society and freedom of speech.
It is an outward looking, peaceful and welcoming country, bursting with optimism and energy, and despite all it has been put through it is seeking friends in the world.
The only thing holding it back is the failure of the world to recognise it.
That is now changing 👏🙏👏
I was glad to speak just now with the President of Somaliland Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi, on this important day for both countries.
Over the past year, based on an extensive and ongoing dialogue, relations between Israel and Somaliland have taken shape. Following the decision of @IsraeliPM Benjamin Netanyahu and the President of Somaliland Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi, today we signed an agreement on mutual recognition and the establishment of full diplomatic relations, which will include the appointment of ambassadors and the opening of embassies.
We will work together to promote the relations between our countries and nations, regional stability and economic prosperity. I have instructed my ministry to act immediately to institutionalize ties between the two countries across a wide range of fields.
With all due respect to the report by Marc Owen Jones (@marcowenjones), many voices in Israel affirm the credibility of these reports. There are indeed ongoing efforts and cooperation between several countries and Somaliland, and numerous reports from the UAE itself have acknowledged this. We welcome all opinions, regardless of the extent of disagreement.

"To our brothers and sisters in #Somalia, we speak with respect and sincerity. #Somaliland's path to statehood was born from historical grievances and the failure of the union, not from hostility. We don't seek confrontation; we urge understanding."
Somaliland-Swedish nurse Ayaan Hassan wins the Medical Mission's Kindness Award and $ for her 8 years of voluntary work training midwives in Gabiley. She also donates the prize money to buy uniforms for her student midwives, supporting maternal and child health in Somaliland.
We too, Somalanders respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the failed state of Somalia. But the agreement signed In Ankara between Somalia and Ethiopia brokered by Turkish President has nothing to do with the MoU between Somaliland and Ethiopia.
@MetroBank_Help ,you are allowing organisations that fund militias and people involved in terrorism to solicit and ask for funds whilst using your services.
This organisation has just deleted a post today claiming to build a hospital but in reality arming militias.

My ancestral roots ManshAllah.
The most beautiful costal city you’ll ever visit. The hub of trade and investment where almost one-third of the world's shipping passes.

This is Jonathan Yudelman, a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Princeton University, verbally abusing a Muslim woman, invading her personal space & forcing his body towards hers.
