It isn't very often when I watch an Iowa State game & have to look up who a player is. That happened last week with Rylan Barnes - a RS Fr. walk-on linebacker and the pride of Britt, Iowa & West Hancock High School legend. Tonight, he made his first start as a Cyclone and had NINE tackles! He was incredible!

Making the story even more compelling: Mom and dad Barnes couldn't find time to make the trip. Harvest.✊ That's as Iowan as it comes.

Let's hope that the crops turn out great and Rylan's family can be in Ames next week when the top-10 Cyclones will take on UCF in another Jack Trice night game.

Iowa State walk-on Rylan Barnes, out of West Hancock High School in Britt, Iowa, was second on the team in tackles tonight with nine.

Malik Verdon was the only Cyclone that had more, securing 10 in the Cyclones' 28-16 win over West Virginia.
