The not proven verdict will be abolished for all new criminal trials in Scotland from 1 January 2026, under regulations laid in Parliament.
This historic reform is part of the Victims, Witnesses, and Justice Reform Act, passed in @ScotParl in September.

While most people are indoors with the heating on, men and women are facing freezing conditions on the streets.
Tonight, our shelter is saving lives.
Without it, people would quite literally freeze to death.
This isn’t politics.
This isn’t statistics.
This is human life.
Our volunteers are out in brutal conditions, opening doors, offering warmth, food, safety and dignity when it matters most.
If you can help by donating, sharing, or volunteering now is the time.

Today is the first-ever National Children with a Parent in Prison Day!
This has been many years in the making, and we are so appreciative of every single person who has raised awareness of this issue to help make this happen.
Prisons, schools, community groups and other charitable organisations all across the country are holding their own awareness events to mark this day - to amplify the hidden voices of children with a parent in prison.
Our team are at Westminster Chapel for the Parental Imprisonment Lived Experience Conference, joined by over 100 academics, teachers, social workers, third sector workers, police officers, MPs, Lords and Ministers - all dedicated to ensuring children with a parent in prison are heard and seen.
@charliersmith1 I Believe some are jealous of your journey and the management and strength shown with your mental health. Keep going, i dont know you but have followed your journey, you look great and doing amazing
In August it was reported that:
"He will join his father on a stag-hunting shoot while they visit the Balmoral. Traditionally, the blood of a hunter's first kill is spread on their face, a ritual that goes back centuries."
@Lookinupatstars There are always many pathways to what you wish to achieve. It may take longer than anticipated but she will get there - too much pressure and excel imposed on kids especially those who have to work really hard - good luck to your daughter 🤞
@ajcorrigan @porciani_monica Yes, Ive been working within a mental health team supporting people in community alongside CMHT and SW 2yrs - have trained in ASIST, ASP,s raised incident reports and ASPs and gained so much more knowledge as the people come from all bankgrounds with very difficult stories ❤️
This is the opening scene of our recently released film 'Invisible Children'. Shockingly, the boy you can hear screaming witnessed his father's arrest - and then went to school the very next morning - without any teacher being aware.

@KerryMP is bringing forward a 10 Minute Rule Bill on Tuesday the 21st of May.
This bill calls for it to be a statutory requirement for the government to identify and support children with a parent in prison.
This would mean that in the future, schools and other appropriate agencies would be able to provide effective emotional support to help children process difficult emotions around their parent's imprisonment.
This bill has the full support of the Children's Commissioner @Rachel_deSouza and her office.
We need your help to send a letter to your local MP, urging them to attend and support Tuesday's bill.
It only takes 2 minutes - and makes a huge difference!
