Olukemi Badenoch has just promoted Tom Tugendhat in her Tory Shadow Cabinet.

The great political selling point of Tugendhat is that he’s supposed to be a serious player on defense and national security, especially when it comes to China.

So we better not talk about how his parliamentary aide Christopher Cash was caught up in the Westminster China spying scandal.

Many will recall how Cash was accused of collecting insider info about UK politics and government policy, and passing it to a Chinese intelligence agent, who then forwarded it to Cai Qi, one of the most senior politicians in China. Cai is often referred to as President Xi Jinping's right-hand man.

But perhaps that was just a fluke, eh? And maybe Tugendhat really is the real deal for Kemi’s Cabinet?

Let’s consider what he believes:

1. Tugendhat voted Remain.
2. He doesn’t want to leave the ECHR.
3. He recently advocated for 6-figure net migration.
4. He is a war hawk and a liberal international interventionist.

Privately schooled. The son of a High Court judge. The nephew of a former Tory MP and European Commissioner. He went to Cambridge, then to the Foreign Office and into Afghanistan “nation-building” circles.

His 2024 Tory leadership campaign attracted large donations from figures including former McKinsey global boss Dominic Barton, ex-Goldman Sachs banker Michael Sherwood, billionaire investor Lord Michael Hintze and businessman Michael Tory (seriously), alongside substantial corporate support.

Barton even went on to become Canada’s Ambassador to China, by the way.

Naturally, Tugendhat has been an outspoken critic of Nigel Farage. He accused him of being “deeply irresponsible and dangerous” after Farage protested the establishment’s attempted cover-up following the Southport stabbings, wherein Axel Rudakubana murdered three children and injured ten others at Taylor Swift-themed dance class.

At the time, Farage suggested a terror-link and demanded better communication from authorities with the public. As the case progressed, he turned out to be completely correct, just as in the assassination of Ann Widdecombe, when authorities tried to originally dismiss the political terror attack as a “burglary gone wrong.”

If you wanted to manufacture the archetypal British foreign-policy establishment politician: elite background, Whitehall, military high command, City money, international institutions and the Tory One Nation tradition, you would struggle to produce a more complete uniparty specimen than Tom Tugendhat.

If this is Kemi’s big signal to the country, God help her.

Is this what "European justice" looks like in 2026? Protecting migrant criminals over our children?

Labour have engineered the biggest political coup in modern UK history.

Labour brought in a new leader from outside the PLP, and timed the coup to coincide with the 6-week summer recess, so And¥ Burnham hasn't had to set foot yet in the House of Commons as Prime Minister, and will only have to endure 2 PMQs when Parliament returns on September 1st before the conference recess starts on the 15th.

The timing has allowed Burnham and his hand-picked staff and team of ministers to run riot, upending centuries of tradition and history and radically changing how the country is run without oversight.

In his first week as PM, Burnham created a 2nd de facto capital city when opening Number 10 North in Manchester, a few minutes down the road from his family home.

Without any, consultation, debate, or scrutiny, Burnham committed the UK to £Billions of extra government spending and changed where and how the Prime Minister, the Cabinet, Ministers of the Crown, and hundreds of civil servants work.

Last week Burnham and his henchmen set in motion changes that will radically affect how the regions operate, with a group of 14 super mayors, 10 of whom represent the Labour Party, given powers to overrule local mayors in such matters as planning permission for new housing estates, and funding for major regeneration projects.

The Mayors have already been called to meetings and briefings at Number 10 North. The creation of super mayors cooperating and reporting to the PM is nothing less than a naked power grab by Labour.

Burnham and his Cabinet Sectary, Antonia Romeo, have ended the pretense of the Civil Service being impartial.

Among the devolution program for the regions are schemes to send teams of civil servants around the country to advise and work with the mayors. The plan for these civile servants is for them to gain experience in local government which will equip them to become "future leaders".

The coup has been planned for over a year, and the plotters couldn't be happier with the way it is going.
