We are transforming stories with different materials, characters and solutions. The students are working on oral language development, story structure, creative expression, social skills, fine-motor skills and self-regulation. LEARNING and having FUN is the KINDERgarten way!
We’ve begun experimenting with colour transformations through paint. “Here is indigo, this is violet. What’s this (red-violet)?”-L “It (mixing blue and yellow) really does make green!”-E. As Spring slowly arrives, we are wondering which colours will appear outside!
What are these snowmen thinking and feeling? Are we stacking them tall or wide? We are comparing using measurement vocabulary and practicing building and creating stories!
Oh no, three of Pete’s buttons popped off and stuck on my partner’s shirt! We love practicing math language like: more, less, and the same as, when we play “Sneak the Buttons”.
Morning table tops are a playful way to learn. Counting, adding, comparing, sorting, working together along to some groovy music. Strengthening our brains, hearts and community.
Did you know seeing and copying shapes and lines in different orientations helps us become writers and readers? We LOVE our write the room centre! Next week, it’s getting more challenging… come back to find out how!
Signature orange colours painted on a collaborative heart. Can you find “orange, orange”, “suspicious red” or “orange sunset”? These young hearts are excited to be a part of Truth and Reconciliation. They know and believe Every Child Matters!
What growth from the beginning of the year! We notice the kindness and strengths of others and share with more details too. What a beautiful group of humans I get to spend the day with!
What kindergarteners think all kids need? Families, friends, kind teachers, warm hugs, feel smart, feel safe, full tummies, not to be changed, to keep special belongings, to keep their words. Our words tied to the circle, help us remember to hold each other up. We are connected.
