The Rangers are finalizing a minor league deal with a non-roster invite for veteran right-hander Ryan Brasier, per Evan Grant.
It’s a homecoming for the Wichita Falls native, who went to Weatherford College.
Brasier, 38, pitched 26 innings for the Cubs in 2025 but was limited by groin injuries. When healthy, the results were better than the ERA suggests, with strong command, low walk rates, and encouraging underlying metrics.
Injuries have slowed him the past two seasons, but the 9-year vet has still been effective when available, posting a sub-3.50 ERA across the last three years. If he earns a roster spot, he’d be another low-risk bullpen addition as Texas continues to build its relief corps on short-term veteran deals.
