Girard 3A State Baseball Champions ⚾️
The Trojans captured the first state championship in program history with an 8-0 victory over Silver Lake in the Class 3A title game.
In his first season leading the program, legendary head coach Bob Fornelli added a Kansas high school state title to a résumé that already includes NCAA Division II World Series runner-up finishes at Fort Hays State and Emporia State.
Girard jumped out to a five-run first inning and never looked back, backed by a dominant performance from junior Arkansas commit Kam Smith. The reigning Sports in Kansas 3A Pitcher of the Year tossed a complete-game shutout, striking out 10 and allowing just three hits.
Ben Cullen paced the offense with three RBIs as the Trojans capped off a historic season with a championship.
