🦎 This is a semi-aquatic spiny lizard whose name was inspired by one of the country's most representative Indigenous peoples—Echinosaura embera—and the largest moth-wasp in Colombia that enchants with its striking red and yellow striped dress—Tigridania magdalenae.
💚 "Recording these new species allows us to better understand the territory we inhabit, and the processes that gave rise to all those things that amaze us out there in order to protect and preserve them," said Daniel Vásquez Restrepo, one of the researchers responsible for the discovery of Echinosaura embera.
