@reidood The huge point the defenders are missing is we realize the blackout won't change much but it sends a message. Many people will walk away and that ultimately hurts their beloved platform in the long run. I haven't turned on my Pro since the announcement. Just got a PC & switch 2.

These are the common talking points from people who disagree with the PlayStation blackout that starts tomorrow.

The fact remains that ANY deviation from the norm on their bottom line that happens this week is something Sony HAS to acknowledge. It’s an indicator of how things will look in 2028 when the move becomes permanent. Like I mentioned before, it’s a “warning shot.”

And many people have been boycotting long before this. Some since July 1, when the announcement was made. Many also plan to extend the boycott indefinitely beyond the week and some are doing it permanently. But the fact remains that focusing on one specific week, where you can get the highest possible concentration of people participating, is the best way for Sony to actually measure the impact.

You can dismiss it, call it useless, and post as many laughing GIFs as you want under every blackout post. Just know that this affects you too, even if you think it doesn’t. More and more, these giant corporations chip away at your rights day by day. Eventually you’ll be hit by something that hits close to home the way physical media does for us and then you might understand the importance of this. By then, it might be too late.

I’m not telling anyone to join the blackout if you don’t want to. But if you want to be heard and feel like you at least made an attempt to knock these giant corporations down a peg, then I encourage you to join.
