My late cousin, who I adored and miss every day, once said to me: Never make fun of someone for mispronouncing a word. It means they learned it by reading.
We decided to replace snacks with fruits and I am realizing that fruits are very expensive. My son eat six apples a day. My daughter eats a pack of grapes in two days. Juice and cookies don't seem so bad anymore.
Naija TikTok is a unique place.
Someone will scam you of ₦10m because you wanted to buy gold or foodstuff from him. Instead of the police, you’ll report him to a popular TikTok person who will now invite both of you on TikTok Live… and the scammer will actually show up 🤣🤣
You do not have unlimited time.
Your death will come on an ordinary day, in the middle of unfinished plans, and the world will continue on without you.
A DEA officer stopped at our farm yesterday. “I need to inspect your farm for illegal growing drugs.”
I said, “Okay, but don’t go in that field over there.”
The DEA officer verbally exploded, saying, “Mister, I have the authority of the federal government with me!” Reaching into his back pocket, the officer pulled out his badge and shoved it in my face. “See this freaking badge? This badge means I am allowed to go wherever I wish… on ANY land! No questions asked or answers given! Do I make myself clear? Do you understand?”
I nodded politely, apologized, and went about my chores. A short time later, I heard loud screams, looked up, and saw the DEA officer running for his life, being chased by my big old mean bull! With every step the bull was gaining ground on the officer and it seemed likely that he’d get gored before reaching safety. The officer was clearly terrified.
So, I threw down my tools, ran to the fence, and shouted at the top of my lungs.
“Your badge, show him your freaking BADGE!!!”
We don’t just have a culture of corruption.
We have a culture of small gods.
Everyone wants to be feared somewhere:
At the gate.
At the counter.
At the office.
At the checkpoint.
That’s the real addiction.
The realest, most honest advice I've heard in recent times. May God richly bless this young journalist.
Imagine telling the whole country to fast 100 days for peace to happen.
