Good nutrition advice should be based on evidence, not misleading claims.

Mothers deserve accurate information to support their health and recovery after childbirth.

Industrial trans fats (iTFA) have no known health benefits. They raise bad LDL cholesterol and lower good HDL cholesterol, increasing the risk of cardiovascular disease.

Let’s eliminate industrially produced trans fats (iTFA), support front of pack warning labels (FOPWL), and restrict misleading marketing of unhealthy foods to protect Ugandans’ health.

On August 12, 2026, Uganda made history when it formally launched one of the most comprehensive nutrient profile models (NPM) in the world. It will serve as the foundation for a new set of food policies intended to safeguard the public health of every Ugandan, as well as serve as an example to other countries in the East African Community and beyond. This progress was driven by the Global Health Advocacy Incubator’s (GHAI) partners in the Uganda National Food Policy Coalition; led by the Center for Food and Adequate Living Rights (CEFROHT) whose sustained advocacy, as well as political commitment and leadership from Uganda’s Ministry of Health, secured adoption of this important policy tool.

Across East Africa, experts and agricultural advocates are urging a united front for the proposed East African Community (EAC) Agroecology Bill, believing its passage could revolutionize food systems, empower food sovereignty, and uplift millions of farmers’ lives.

In mid-April 2026, the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) officially began the legislative process for the EAC Agroecology Bill, 2026, after the Agriculture, Tourism and Natural Resources Committee chairperson, Hon. @GatpanThoar , received parliamentary leave to draft and introduce it. The drafting committee is now in the final stages of tabling the bill before parliament.
