@normiesplsgo @Whyyf4 What’s heavier? A kilogram of steel, or a kilogram of carbon nanotubes?

[Mikey @Whyyf4]

instead we spend our time covering shape memory alloys and carbon nanotubes, because those are more important than steel

[Mikey @Whyyf4]

-> First day of material science class
-> Prof says "we will not be covering steel"
-> what

@wanwan562152810 @jeffrykim20 It truly does.
Thank you so much for the kind responses and insight, and I’m glad there are still people like you out here who are willing to speak up and interact with others with compassion. :)

@wanwan562152810 @jeffrykim20 Again, I hope so too, but in my own experience in recent times the number of cases where people’s nationalities being revealed have been increasing.
And with the current political climate and misinformation, it’s quite scary as a foreign resident lol

[Natsumero System 🙒 @CelesteVelato]

@wanwan562152810 @jeffrykim20 In the case of X, though, these racists’ voices are unfortunately the ones that are most widespread, and are thus the ones that those outside of Japan hears first.

(Sorry for using English, I’m still learning Japanese and I’d rather not make mistakes on such a complex topic).

[Natsumero System 🙒 @CelesteVelato]

@wanwan562152810 @jeffrykim20 Frankly, I hope I am wrong in saying so. I’ve lived here for years and the people I’ve interacted with daily have been nothing but warm and kind, even as I notice how the government had slowly become more hostile towards foreigners.

[Natsumero System 🙒 @CelesteVelato]

@wanwan562152810 @jeffrykim20 You can see examples of this too in everyday Japanese media, as if anyone who commits a crime in Japan is a foreigner, they would highlight their nationality in the news front and center (which sadly fuels more of the foreigner hate ^^;).
It’s truly an Ouroboros sort of problem..

[Natsumero System 🙒 @CelesteVelato]

@wanwan562152810 @jeffrykim20 The problem is that the current Japanese hate that exists in here stems from the original foreigner hate that a lot of Japanese people had (unfortunately) posted.
That, and that in international events like this you are often “defined” by the nation you are from.
