Lots of employers want to use AI to replace engineers. A few employers think that their products cannot be sold because engineers lose their jobs and incomes.

Lots of people are addicted to short videos. A few people are even willing to play a video game for 2 hours, let alone concentrating and working on other meaningful things.

Lots of employers want AI to be as powerful as possible. A few employers think about the risks and dangers of overdevelopment of AI and how to handle them.

I would certainly hire the one with 5 production projects. If they can build production projects, they are already coding in real-world environments.

In contrast, solving 700 LeetCode problems doesn't mean that you can build a real-world project. You still cannot handle system design, version control, and UIs with just cracking LeetCode questions, no matter how many.

IMHO, none of them will win fundamentally. If I have to say, I would say that Developers using AI will have a slight advantage.

Why?

The construction of AI is an endless money draining machines.

Companies have to lay off employees to save cash flow for AI development.

Employees will not have enough money to buy companies' products, so developer selling AI will lose their jobs or have neither income nor commissions.

Due to the lack of cash inflow and the possible abandonment of the AI project, developers building AI will lose their jobs.

And when companies building AI fail, developers using AI can no longer use AI. But at least they can adapt their lives back without AI, which is why they have only a slight advantage.

I miss how technology felt 10–15 years ago.

Not because I hate tech or progress. I use AI every day. I love convenience.

But back then, the trade-off was different: 🧵👇

1 - Social media was about sharing real-life stories and true feelings, not just chasing algorithmic virality.

2 - Video games were built line-by-line with passion, heart, and craft.

3 - Studying hard actually guaranteed a stable job, decent pay, and a secure life.

4 - Tech enhanced our lives without isolating us or swallowing stable professional careers whole.

I miss when technology made our connections more real, not less.

That’s why I’m building a tech business to help fix this balance.
