@wxdoc@evornithology Last fall ~410 were tagged east of the Rockies and 44 of those made it to the overwintering sites in Mexico with tags intact. That percentage is consistent with the circular adhesive tags- so that plus studies at JMU suggest negligible impact of the tags on behavior and ability.
@evornithology WE LOVE IT! Truth be told- so are "we" - the local @cmbobirds has several long-term monitoring projects- Hawkwatch, Seawatch, Morning Flight, and the Monarch Monitoring Project (MMP). The MMP is the second oldest of the lot, second only to the 1976 inaugural Hawkwatch.
