@ChrisBryant87@RustyHerzog@ryanarey Have a good one, Chris. I really do hope you enjoy SG. As much as we disagree, I do thank customers for being part of helping keep HW alive, which is why I’ve always tried my best since the 80s to make sure you all receive the highest-quality films you deserve. Take care.
@RustyHerzog@ChrisBryant87@ryanarey I’ve been part of approving some of the most successful and unique films in HW.
You’re in the group my colleagues like. Spend whatever $ on whatever garbage that’s out. We don’t pay attention to easy marks. We’re more discerning when it comes to those wise with their $. Enjoy.😉
@ChrisBryant87@RustyHerzog@ryanarey Everyone has different values when it comes to time and money. It’s asinine not to learn from bad experiences, and people tend not to want to live a life repeating the same mistakes. If you want to, that’s fine. You’re free to live your life much like others will live theirs.
@RustyHerzog@ChrisBryant87@ryanarey And that’s fine, but what works for you doesn’t work for all. Not everyone has the luxury of time, and when you expect people to hand over their hard-earned $, make sure it’s worth both their time and $. There’s good and bad art, that doesn’t discredit the time spent make the art
@RustyHerzog@ChrisBryant87@ryanarey Maybe it’s confusing to you, but when you’ve worked in HW as long as I have, you see things differently. And don’t tell you’ve never had an interest in a movie, heard it was meh, decided to wait to watch it at home, did and thought, “What a waste of time.” Many want to avoid that
@RustyHerzog@ChrisBryant87@ryanarey No, it’s not if you’re in the business of making money in Hollywood, and plenty of people only want to watch movies worth their time and money. People are working more for less money. Time is valuable and so is money. Many dual-income households with children think this way.
@ChrisBryant87@ryanarey And that’s fine, but many families are on budgets, and it’s pointless for a family of 4 to drop $40-70 on tickets for a poor film when they can wait to watch it at home or not at all. That money can be spent on a movie that has great reviews, audience scores, and cinema score.
@harvv@DCFilmNews The danger is diminishing returns by loss of confidence by general audiences that slowly turns to apathy. It’s what Star Wars is dealing with right now. Clayface has a low budget and should do well, but Man of Tomorrow has to do well or that’s it for the Gunnverse.
@darkmcknight93@BlackMajikMan90 Sometimes it’s hard for people to be objective about something they love, so they ignore the flaws, but then panic and course correct when others see and point out how bad the flaws are. Reviews calling SG fine, fun, or a blast has been very telling over the last few days.
@RachelLeishman@dontwatchthis__ Men are the chief demographic for CBMs, but there are women reviewers that dislike this movie too. It’s just not a good movie and probably everyone save for Momoa will come out a bit scathed, but it’s not a death sentence for DCU yet.
@BlackMajikMan90@AngryJoeShow The budget needs to be controlled. If they can keep it at 175-185m, it will be in good shape if the script is great. Deadpool & Wolverine had a budget of 200m. Superman (2025) had a budget of 225m. They can cut costs somewhere without hurting the movie. Good luck to them.
@BlackMajikMan90@AngryJoeShow I’ve been saying this was a huge misstep by Gunn and that I’m not sure which audience this movie is for. Combine this with a bad release date, I’ll stick with it not breaking 280m, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it doesn’t get to 250m. Also, MoT budget needs to come down.
@ItsRatioGod@DiscussingFilm If the critic ratings were ~40% or lower, you can hope that maybe this wasn’t for critics and more for the fans. At 59%, this movie is just average and that’s bodes poorly for how the audience will rate it as well as its cinema score. I don’t think it will crack 260m worldwide.

@backhandoftruth@Variety It’s a 4 quad movie, skews a bit female in the demographics, is a nostalgia play, and is part of a wildly successful franchise. It would be puzzling if this movie didn’t make money.
@StefanLands@EverythingDCU_@DEADLINE Unfortunately, it doesn’t. Minions and Moana live action will hurt its chances before the Odyssey gives it the final blow. I believe by the time Moana comes out, SG will be an afterthought.
@DeAngel21069970@SusanDReynolds Nothing is wrong with moving to NYC, but after being coddled most of their lives, most of these kids don’t have the work ethic to make it the level they want in their field or know how to shift to another job in the field they want to be in. It’s quite sad. Oh well.
@CarloCanarlo@MoviesThatMaher And that’s the problem with Supergirl. Comic book movies almost always skew male. I think Wonder Woman is the only exception that skewed female but barely. WB is confused about who this film is for. Barbie and DevilWP are brilliant examples of knowing your target audience.
@JosephWill15403@MoviesThatMaher That’s not fair. Not everyone finds the same things interesting. If I hadn’t been inquisitive about the business side when I started in HW, I’d have never been part of greenlighting some of the best films in the last few decades. Remember Iger started his career as a weatherman.
@JosephWill15403@MoviesThatMaher You don’t have to be a shareholder or executive to want to understand the business side of HW. I started my HW career in the 80s, and I ended up on the business side because it fascinated me more than anything else. I understand missing those days, but you can love both things.
