Dolly was born in East Tennessee and used her success to make it better. So much money from her attractions and fame came into our mountain communities and was put into schools and infrastructure. She made the Imagination Library to help childhood literacy in Appalachia. Every month since our daughter was born, the library has sent her a book with a note from Dolly encouraging her to be proud of where sheโs from and to learn the importance of the stories that built us. Her husband passed last year and she spoke of being reunited with him. Iโm glad heaven is a little sweeter, and sings a little better for it. Rest in peace to the Queen of Appalachia, Jolene could never.

The rugged path on which I walk
Was once a cold steel railway line.
What pulled like iron falls like chalk โ
No longer this burden of mine.
I've laid it down before the cross;
My weight now rests with Christ.
We thought so much more of you @StephenKing and even though this may harm us financially weโre removing all your books from our website.
Absolute abhorrent and ill informed comment in the first instance that an inchoate apology doesnโt begin to cover.
Go further.
The ghostly white limbs of a lofty gum tree
twist and breakโsuch sorrow few ever see.
Beneath its wooden corpse, I choose to stay,
watching the clouds and stars, singing as I pray.
Hidden around where the river bends,
trees reach out with their twisted hands.
Disturbed by the mud beneath them,
they yearn for escape, but never freedom.
Reflect like mud covered bones in decay,
refract like sunlight that won't find its way.
Stand like thin trees where shadows hide away,
fall like the dying forestโyet still, you stay.
Flowing waters, hidden by bridges.
We walk above the truth as silent smudges.
Wisdom runs deep, but none take heedโ
Too lost in want, too blind by need.
