Today, September 21, marks the 54th anniversary of dictator Ferdinand Marcos’ declaration of martial law, an era widely remembered by Filipinos as one of the darkest chapters in the nation's history.
During the period, there were around 107,200 primary victims of rights violations; 70,000 people were arrested, mostly arbitrarily, without warrants of arrest; 34,000 people were tortured; and 3,240 others were killed by the military and police, according to Amnesty International. #NeverAgain #NeverForget
