On this day, August 18, 1986, Bon Jovi released his third studio album, Slippery When Wet. The album featured songs by Jon Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora, and Desmond Child, produced by Bruce Fairbairn, with sound engineering by Bob Rock.
The album was an instant hit, marking Bon Jovi’s first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200, where it remained for eight consecutive weeks. It also reached No. 1 with “You Give Love a Bad Name” and
“Livin’ On A Prayer” on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
As if all that weren’t enough, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and the Music Business Association ranked it No. 44 on their list of the 200 Greatest Albums of All Time, and Classic Rock Magazine ranked it No. 9 on its list of the 100 Greatest Rock Records of All Time.

Jon Bon Jovi says that Obie O'Brien told him "he can do better" in regards to his singing.
Jon also says that other members of the band have severe health issues that they told him about AFTER the tour got announced.
He says that night 8 at MSG he was tired.

Mercury Records. Produced by Bruce Fairbairn, it featured hit singles like “You Give Love a Bad Name,” “Livin’ on a Prayer,” and “Wanted Dead or Alive.” The album topped the Billboard 200 for eight weeks, went 15× Platinum in the US, and became the best-selling album of 1987.
On this date in 1995, Michael Jackson became an Internet pioneer, hosting an online chat for 25,000 fans, across three major online services. This first of its kind multi-service digital chat was also simultaneously broadcast on MTV.
