Here’s our twitter thread for the democratic debate!! Each tweet will be followed by the tweeter’s name. These thoughts are not reflective of Centennial Rho Kappa as well as the greater National Rho Kappa Honors society.
Booker has not acted very professionally throughout the night. Even though it’s in the Tyler Perry studio, this isn’t a drama. It’s a democratic debate. - Juliann
The candidates have been pausing all night for cheers and laughter. They should just let it happen naturally! Impactful debate moments happen when you aren’t looking for one. - Juliann
Bernie does a great job of acknowledging the mistreatment of Palestinians while still maintaining his Jewish voter base by explicitly saying he is still pro-israel. - Juliann
I’m surprised that Yang and Booker had balls to bring up the atrocities committed by China when so many other politicians have completely ignored the topic. They are running “re-education” (aka concentration) camps for Muslims, and the world has been silent - Nic
Kamala hit the nail on the head with her comments about Trump’s foreign policy. He has made our country a yes-man for countries like Russia and North Korea, while alienating us from our allies - Nic
Yang made some really great points while mentioning his son, development, and education. However, he made a common mistake of forgetting to use person-first language! He said “autistic” rather than “person with autism.” - Angelina
I really vibed with what Warren and Booker said about changing housing environments to stop segregation between different races and economía classes. - Makayla
Andrew Yang: “$1,000 a month for every person... into families’ pockets, which can pay for child care.” this is his main focus for his political campaign. He believes it will help the economy, and all families in America, especially the middle and low classes. #YangGang -will
Yang is talking about how only the US and New Guinea were the only countries without the proper amount of time of maternity leave. We should get off that list. - Makayla
The civics committee is having a democratic debate watch party tonight! We will be tweeting throughout, with personal thoughts and contributions. Stay tuned for two hours of fun!! #DemDebate5
