The One Who Eats Monsters sequel update: Act 1 is with two beta readers, Act 2 is close to ready, and Act 3 needs some polish.
I may reach out for additional beta readers since my regular writer's group is a little over-tapped at the moment.
@rozChika Tonight I've started rewriting the very last leg of Act 2, tightening and improving the story's flow. This is part of an overall goal to bring my final word count down. Act 2 was, by far, the roughest when I finished the last draft and it's close to finished.
Finished the second draft of my sequel to The One Who Eats Monsters. It still needs some tightening and other work before I go to beta readers, but I'm getting closer.
@rozChika I will probably do another pass on Act 3, but it will involve much less development than my Act 2 rewrite. Also: I sent Act 1 to some beta readers, so things are definitely moving!

I'm excited about this anthology, and have seen so many great stories pass under my nose while reading for it the last month. Still three weeks to go on the call, and details here for those interested:

In addition to working on the next Ryn book, I’m slush-reading for my friend Jess Carver’s short story anthology, Dark Hearts, focused on speculative fiction about woman antiheroes. The call’s open until end of January.
I think I'd like to query some agents, something I haven't considered in a long time. I don't want to go the slush pile route again, I had a very bad experience with it.
Note: This is for a new story, but The One Who Eats Monsters sequel is still very much happening.
I'm back into working on my Wind and Shadows 2 rewrite. We're still a ways from having the finished project, but it's possible I'll have a beta draft ready by February or March. Hard to say how long until I'm ready to hit publish, it depends on how the beta draft looks.
Giving Wind and Shadow Book 2 a little cooldown time between drafts and working on something new.
Doing a 5-minute pitch tonight on a superhero romance, wish me luck.
I've gotten a lot of work done on the sequel to The One Who Eats Monsters the past two months. I'm presently working on the climactic scenes for the book. Drafts being what they are, we're a ways off, but rest assured it's coming.
@lya_lou I personally really loved it. I go in for characters and I like a little warmth, which in spite of the hyper violence and cynicism, it actually has. Obviously, it's a violent show--first few episodes set the tone pretty well, though, so worth a try.
Finished Harley Quinn series tonight. Perfect ending. The Rosebud easter egg floored me, because I remember seeing that car when I watched the "Harley and Ivy" episode of Batman TAS as a kid. It made me flash back like the food critic at the end of Ratatouille.
@FreeSoilAndrew@AviWoolf A lot of fantasy lit uses treatment of "green" races as a loose metaphor for dangers of racism/prejudice, but yeah, directly likening a fantasy race to real ethnic/racial groups is silly. The tighter you make the metaphor, the more it falls apart. And it can even get cringe.
