We create research evidence to achieve greater equity for all New Yorkers. Integrated within @nychousing, our research is done by & for the City of New York
Last night, we joined @thenyic in celebrating the Community Interpreter Bank! 🎉 Their interpretation services help the NYCHVS capture New Yorkers’ experiences in the languages they speak at home. We’re also proud that some @NYCHousing interpreters are now part of the CIB!
🏠 Join us tomorrow at the 2026 Housing Resource Fair!

Where does NYC’s pied-à-terre data actually come from?
For decades, the NYCHVS has tracked units held for occasional, seasonal, or recreational use — helping policymakers, researchers, and the public understand long-term changes in the city’s housing landscape. @NYCHousing
.@NYCHousing & @nycHealthy together at @AAPOR. Showing our how our continued commitment to survey research in the public interest.
Excited to learn and share with all our colleagues! #ForNYCByNYC
Our team is presenting at @AAPOR alongside our partners from @umisr and @rnishimura on evaluating ABS frames in NYC.
Proud to collaborate on research that helps strengthen how we understand and engage communities across New York City. @Goldsteeeed@NYCHousing 🤝
During Immigrant Heritage Week, we’re proud to show what language justice looks like in practice.
At the @NYCImmigrants Language Access Convening, our team shared how the NYCHVS is reaching New Yorkers in multiple languages.
At tonight’s Rental Ripoff Hearing in the Bronx, we shared our NYCHVS Data Explorer.
Did you know the Bronx has the highest share of residents who speak a language other than English (56.5%)? Data like this helps ensure our @nychousing policies reflect our communities.
Queens has the highest share of first-generation immigrants (44.8%). Understanding who lives here helps build fair housing policy.

Last night, our team was onsite at @NYCHousing's Rental Ripoff hearings in Brooklyn to demonstrate the NYC Housing & Vacancy Survey data explorer! 🧵
The NYCHVS Data Explorer is an evidence-based tool that integrates housing, demographic, and neighborhood level data to support rigorous analysis, transparency, and informed public decision-making.
Earlier, we were at the resource fair, where nonprofits and city agencies shared critical information on their services for New Yorkers. We even spotted our friends from @CenterOnHOME! Shoutout to Harry and Lucy! 🩵
Our team is at @NYCHousing’s first Rental Ripoff hearing in Brooklyn! Come visit our table, learn more about the #NYCHVS and dive into our public Data Explorer!
The NYCHVS uses multilingual, in-person field interviews to ensure more New Yorkers are seen, heard, and counted—so decisions reflect the reality of our city.
Here's how our team at @NYCHousing does it:
This year, we’re partnering with the University of Michigan Institute for Social Research (ISR) @umisr, a leader in survey science, to ensure rigorous, high-quality research.
NYCHVS field interviewers are officially in the field—talking with New Yorkers across all five boroughs.
Ever wonder what the NYCHVS is and why it matters?
