After the trauma of being forcefully separated, the monkey and her baby will now be shifted to the Asola Bhatti Wildlife Sanctuary, Delhi, where they can recover and live peacefully.

Colombia has begun the transfer of its last captive chimpanzee from a zoo in Pereira to a sanctuary in Brazil to live with other apes.

38-year-old Yoko is nearly toothless due to the poor treatment he received after being captured by traffickers as a baby. Since his rescue in 2018, Yoko has been living in Pereira. Yoko has been alone since 2023, when his two companions escaped from the zoo and were shot dead by authorities. Protests over the shootings sparked the process to move Yoko to a sanctuary with other apes
