In Islam, the Black Stone (Al-Hajar Al-Aswad) is a sacred stone set into one corner of the Kaaba in Mecca. Muslims believe it originally came from Paradise and was given to Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) and his son Ismail when they built the Kaaba as the first house of worship for one God. According to Islamic teachings, the stone was once pure white but turned black due to the sins of humanity. During Hajj or Umrah, pilgrims try to kiss or touch it — not because it has divine power, but because the Prophet ﷺ did so, making it an act of devotion and obedience. Muslims do not worship the stone; they worship Allah alone. The stone serves as a sacred symbol and a starting point for circling (tawaf) around the Kaaba.
