Hi Twitter: some personal news. I left my job at Middling Culture (which is an amazing project with amazing people - this was very much a me thing not a them thing) last month, and will be starting a non-academic job in professional services at the University of Essex next week

@greateranglia Hi, given there are no trains at all from Wivenhoe today why are all the station entrance open and the staff are staying in the office not on platform to advise people? People are coming, buying tickets from the machine and then waiting and no one is actively helping anyone.

@wartsandbrawls If you think this is the same then I don't think you're giving appropriate feedback on formative drafts - you shouldn't be telling them what to write or close to it. Out of interest, do you consider things you've written for publication but that went through peer review 'yours'?

Was looking at my own photo roll for March 2020 and found this schedule we wrote of who got to work when as two full-time workers with a two year old and no childcare. Much worse was going on elsewhere but I'd forgotten this particular grimness...

@NikkiClark86 I don't know why I wrote in present tense - I haven't given an academic paper in 4 years! But I always found the same. One good piece of advice I was given is that your audience trust you, you don't need to show them every bit of proof you have (which was always my tendency)
