@joseyMW I also really, really dislike the way consent is used casually as a verb, as if it's something that can be 'done' to women, as in 'has she been consented yet'?
@sheena_byrom@Sunnydownlane@WeMidwives@ACBmidwife I did a direct entry masters (masters and registration together) - admission criteria for MLUs across the UK. Helps now when discussing choices/evidence/guidelines with women, will help if I go into midwifery education later.
@sheena_byrom@MidwiferyUnits@luciagreenwich It's a really good question and one that was difficult to answer within the remit of this study. Lack of evidence/research into outcomes by planned place of birth (or recent research that hadn't yet filtered through) seemed to be a big factor.
@sheena_byrom@millihill @JulietRayment Thankyou so much for looking at it in amongst all the many other fantastic things that you do for midwifery and for women
I'm not a frequent tweeter, but really pleased to see our research exploring uk-wide variation in admission criteria for midwifery-led birth units published. Relevant to womens' access to informed birth choice options @millihill@sheena_byrom @JulietRayment
Really good to see this in print. Local guidelines for admission to UK midwifery units compared with national guidance: A national survey using the UK Midwifery Study System (UKMidSS) @Ethel_Burns_07 @NPEU_Oxford https://t.co/kNL3shbytM
@JulietRayment @millihill@sheena_byrom Thankyou for the link, I'll definitely be reading with interest too. Hopefully an area where further research to inform Midwifery Unit admission criteria could lead to 'both...and' - 'good outcome and good experience'
The people criticising teachers right now are the same as those who tried to shame junior doctors for striking
Like NHS staff, teachers have dedicated their lives to serving other people, and there cannot be shame in caring about the welfare of others
Please RT if you agree
#StayAlert to hypocrisy and platitudes.
Not long ago, the Tories voted against giving nurses’ the reasonable pay rise they deserved and celebrated the defeat of the Bill in question by cheering and punching the air. They also slashed and burned nurses’ bursaries.
Big, big thankyou https://t.co/ZydCwaDZl1 - called to homebirth early hours Thurs morning, driver side wing mirror smashed, replacement mirror delivered for free on Friday! I need my car to make community postnatal visits - very grateful.
Very proud of first-year student midwife Sophie Rickett’s blog post—it takes guts and maturity to write such an honest reflection! @all4maternity@Prof_AmyBrown@TSM_Journal @SagefemmeSB @MhairiMcLellan https://t.co/TOFF22g0X8
Such a privilege to be asked to come and talk about this project to a room full of midwives who work every day in practice to widen access to midwifery-led units
Amazing video of a baby being resuscitated on mum without cutting the cord. Well done #EileenAtkins and #BadassMotherBirther for sharing this video. https://t.co/MhSt8DyJN4
