@SadMarshGhost I haven't watched it since it was new but I liked the majority of it. The performances enough to forgive the story weaknesses, I think. Definitely put it in the list with those same movies.
@SadMarshGhost I feel like gay is too restrictive for what they're going for these days. Coding is clearly gay but intent reads more bi, pan, omni - not in a predatory capn jack kind of way but just inclusive? But yeah, dudes first.
@TychoBrahe We're the exceptions to the rule. Half the folks I used to run with who played girls online are girls now. The other half... Let's just say they vote differently.
@roh_schach I know folks have odd relationships with the truth but someone getting upset because I didn't lie or intentionally conceal things from them would be a huge sign I need to get out of that relationship/friendship. Massive value conflict
@nobody_@rebelempiricist I was scanning something along these lines on Thanksgiving and luckily put the brakes on our turkey breast at 150 and everyone agreed it was a great call.
@BrentWeeks@dtaspire@Google I'm a big pessimist about GenAI tools but if you retool it with 'we're using specific AI tech to solve a specific set of problems and when you give us your input you select from a finite list of operations' I get a lot more optimistic. Problem is, very few folks are doing that.
@BrentWeeks@dtaspire@Google That's a genuine problem that is underreported but I think it's also a subset of a larger problem. GenAI/LLM based products work best (at all) when they are laser focused on specific problems and not when they give you the same tool for every problem.
@BrentWeeks Yeah, no shame for ignorance there, the sales pitch is absolutely that there are some magical capabilities. It's only when you start to dig into how it works, either as a tech or with an explainer that you see that the claims aren't even *possible* with the tools that exist.
That's a good example of the gulf between how genAI works and how many folks think it works. It's literally a 'can't get there from here' scenario where we know what we want and no one is working on that tool or product but want us to think they are.
The sad thing is that there IS purely computational work I could imagine an AI being helpful with--someday. Say, "Given everything written in the last four volumes, if character X in this flashback is seventeen, how old might character Y be? Please cite page numbers for why."
