Le immagini arrivate da Ceuta hanno dimostrato ancora una volta quanto sia urgente una risposta europea all’immigrazione clandestina.

Per questo l’Italia ha promosso, insieme alla Danimarca, una lettera sottoscritta da 22 Stati membri dell’Unione europea, che chiede un’azione comune per rafforzare le frontiere esterne, contrastare l’immigrazione irregolare, combattere i trafficanti di esseri umani, rendere più efficaci i rimpatri ed eliminare ogni fattore che possa incentivare nuovi ingressi illegali.

È un segnale importante: la linea che l’Italia sostiene da tempo è oggi condivisa da un numero sempre maggiore di Nazioni europee.

La difesa delle frontiere esterne dell’Unione non è l’interesse di una singola Nazione. È una responsabilità comune dell’Europa.
