Congratulations to @DAcemogluMIT, Jim Robinson, and @baselinescene for the Nobel prize in economics! We put together a @vox_dev post highlighting their many contributions to development economics and political economy:
How @DAcemogluMIT, @baselinescene & James Robinson have contributed to development economics
The VoxDev Editorial Board would like to congratulate the 2024 economic sciences laureates. This blog highlights their significant contribution to economics: https://t.co/jlWo3HmsKa
We are incredibly excited to announce that @cesicruz has joined Michael Callen & @caria_stefano on our Editorial Board.
We are extremely grateful for all of Namrata Kala & @RdoseiOsei's work over the past year - more exciting updates to share soon ➡️ https://t.co/w4umucBiJw
Our work suggests it’s possible indeed! From back of the envelope calculations: even if @LiberalPH did the door-to-door policy messaging in just 10% of the electorate in 2019, the top #OtsoDiretso candidate @bamaquino would have been elected 🇵🇭
Here’s an interesting @nberpubs response from @cesicruz @jblabonne @xftrebbi - perhaps yes, but the (positive) door-to-door information campaign starts NOW.

Using 2019 Philippine Senatorial election results to show that directly engaging voters and providing them with policy information increases vote share, from @cesicruz, @jblabonne, and @xftrebbi https://t.co/bLsEzWXyDE
@max_kwiek @grattonecon@poleconuk_w Yes! For the talk acknowledgments I gave a shout out to our lovely campus security folks who let me into the building 🤣
Miss you all! Hope to join more of the talks now that I’m not teaching this quarter!
@k_sonin@keithschnak That you don’t understand one of @keithschnak’s jokes is actually a sign of intelligence and good taste, friend!
I was deeply ashamed that I understood it myself 🤣
Congratulations @NathanPengtrell! We are so very proud of you!
Thanks also to our amazing external reviewer @a2hicken, whose suggestions were so insightful and constructive that our university examiner and chair made a point of it during the defense ❤️
Happy to say I successfully defended my dissertation on the political economy of aid, influence, and poverty reduction in SEA today.
Very grateful to @KaiOstwald@cesicruz@nujoaixil for their excellent guidance and support. I could not have hoped for a better committee.
Really amazing how mental health is a concern some people selectively trot out to shield perpetrators of bad behavior from accountability, but somehow never comes up when evaluating the impact of their behavior on the people they’ve targeted for harassment and abuse
Heading to Boston for @nberpubs SI (between @UCLA@USC@Caltech, this plane is full of economists 🤣)
Looking forward to catching up with my political economy fam and hope to meet some of my #EconTwitter besties in person ❤️
