This critical support will help Hoosiers recovering from historic storms and flooding. We’re grateful for this partnership as we work to rebuild, recover, and help communities get back on their feet.

Last night I formally requested an expedited major disaster declaration for individual and public assistance for 54 counties from FEMA.

If granted, this declaration will mean significantly more resources to accelerate Indiana’s recovery from the recent severe weather. I will do everything in my power to ensure Hoosiers have the resources needed to recover.

2 of 2: So, even if Congress gets off their butts and votes on a package Thursday, the unpaid DHS personnel will not be paid on Friday. It doesn’t work that way or that fast unfortunately and the last shutdown took almost a week and a half to get full backpay.

1 of 2: I’m not sure where you are getting your facts from, but the last time we had a 43 day shutdown in October and November of last year, it took over a week for us to get our back pay for the days the government was shutdown!
