It was insightful to read about Dante and heaven, hell, and purgatory. I now know the difference between purgatory and hell thanks to this text. #ch1002#ch1206#divc0m
Its nice to see this text challenge other text(s) we have read before in class. Such as the New and old testaments in the holy Bible, which were challenged in this particular text. #mand3vill3#ch1206#ch1002
@GabbyBrito2 It's interesting/nice to read a different perspective once in a while. This book has a different perspective than the other texts from class. #mand3v1ll3#ch1206#ch1002
@NaikVaidehi I think a long time ago they viewed it as real. But now, the modern day culture has changed and we see it as fictitious. It's like religion, religious people say the Bible as real, but non believers see it as fiction/or mythical. #mand3v1ll3#ch1206#ch1002
I think this section of the readings was intriguing, because we learned more of how the Viking culture differed from fadlans culture. #ch1206#ch1002#islmtrvl
@gfloresalfredo I agree. His travel log narrative allows us to learn much about the Viking culture, however, he somehow seemed to keep his own identity pretty secret. #islmtrvl#ch1206#ch1002
I really liked the way this book was set up. It was almost like a travel log. It was interesting to see a change in book styles. #islmtrvl#ch1206#ch1002
I think it's interesting how all the texts tie in to each other together. For example, the Illiad/Odyssey and Aeneid both are revolving around the Trojan war and are in chronological order. Now, were reading about Caesar and the downfall of the Roman empire right after reading ab
*about Aeneas. He goes seeking the promised Land after the Trojan war. Now Caesar is brought into the picture, leading to his assassination and the downfall of the Roman empire. The texts foreshadow the events and plotlines of the following piece of literature that we read.
@OliverEldrian I read the downfall of Julius Caesar in high school, but until this course, I never knew he was an ancestor of Aeneas. I guess it makes sense because they are two of ancient Romes largest and most significant people in history/lit. (Other than Julius Caesar.) #brutchron#ch1206
#shahmnh#ch1002 I think it's interesting how relatable these texts are if you analyze them enough. Even though they were written ages ago, they're still pretty relevant to our everyday modern lives and lifestyles. #ch1206
