BREAKING: Israeli settlers are right now attacking and burning down Palestinian homes in the villages of Abu Falah and al-Mughayyir in the West Bank.
They opened fire on civilians, injuring several people, one of them is in critical condition.
We were all shocked at this video showing an amputee brutalized by the IDF. But it turns out that this is just the tip of the iceberg of what Israel has done to this poor man.
Abu Sayed, a 61-year-old farmer near Masafer Yatta by Avigayil in the southern Hebron Hills, endured a sustained pattern of settler harassment that destroyed his land and livelihood. Settlers repeatedly encroached on his seven-and-a-half dunams, fenced portions of his fields, drilled barriers, and blocked access to olives, wheat, and barley, effectively denying him usable cultivation space and threatening his family’s subsistence.
In a land-related confrontation, a settler grabbed Abu Sayed’s son’s phone, choked the boy, and Abu Sayed himself was restrained, with his left hand twisted as he collapsed. A settler security coordinator then fired, striking Abu Sayed in the right leg and leading to a severe injury that necessitated amputation after infection and medical complications.
After the injury, the Israeli army detained him, binding his hands behind his back and blindfolding him, sometimes for long periods (about 10 hours). He reports beatings or rough handling during transport and confinement, with insults such as “Arab, dirty” and remarks suggesting cameras were unnecessary.
He waited for medical attention, and only later was he taken to a hospital where his right leg was amputated. The following months featured repeated detentions—sometimes while on crutches—alongside ongoing land surveillance and barrier construction by settlers, creating a persistent atmosphere of fear and insecurity on his property and disrupting his family’s ability to live and work there.
There are countless stories like this. This time there was a camera there. Usually there isn't one.
