Delhi Police have registered an FIR at Parliament Street police station following a complaint by Assistant Commissioner of Police Vivek Bhagat, alleging caste-based humiliation, intimidation and obstruction of official duty during a protest at Buta Singh Roundabout on October 3.

According to the FIR, ACP Vivek Bhagat, posted in the Connaught Place subdivision of New Delhi district, alleged that a journalist made casteist remarks against him in public while he was deployed for law-and-order duty during a protest against the Election Commission of India. The FIR names Rosy, Gajendra and an unknown person as accused.

In his complaint, Bhagat stated that he belongs to the Scheduled Caste community. He alleged that he and his operator, Constable Ravi Dahiya, heard a journalist refer to his nameplate and caste identity and make derogatory remarks about his caste and appointment as an ACP.

The FIR has been registered under Sections 221, 356(2) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 3(1)(p), 3(1)(q), 3(1)(r) and 3(1)(s) of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

'Love Jihad' — now with a Thai woman

A Thai woman came to Kanpur looking for her husband and found his wife and three children.

Mohammad Irfan told her he was unmarried, married her in Thailand and took around ₹60 lakh from her. She says that when she asked for her money back, he pushed her to change her religion and then cut her off.

An organisation by the name Kanzeon Public Charitable Trust reached Madras high court after their FCRA application was cancelled by home ministry

Shockingly, while the organisation keeps a facade of being a Buddhist meditation centre, court found that the main person behind it is an ordained Christian priest and that the meditation centre prominently displayed a Christian cross alongside a Buddha statue!

The court upheld the rejection. And made a very important observation:

“Religious organisations, whose activities would not affect the nation’s secular fabric and social amity, are entitled to obtain FCRA.....One cannot forget the fact that Christianity is a messianic religion. Their theological and religious mission is to bring everyone within the fold of Jesus Christ. There is a saying ‘a leopard will not change its spots’.

“Unlike Hinduism which is inclusive, the Abrahamic religions are inherently exclusive. The devout Jews, Christians and Muslims believe that theirs is the one true and complete revelation because that is what their Holy books say of themselves"
